AUMS Ltd is currently seeking suitably experienced Long Hole Operator / Trainer for our Geita Gold Mine Contract in Geita.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accurately drill a series of Long holes to a design pattern using a mechanised drill.
  •  Read and accurately follow mine instruction plans with skill and precision ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient and profile.
  • Communicate with surveyors, geologists and engineers to optimise drill patterns and metres.
  • Set up and troubleshoot on Longhole Drill rigs, specifically on the Sandvik rigs.
  • Comply with Australian and Tanzanian Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations
  • Must carry out standard work place inspection practices and procedures and prepare the areas for drilling, charging or scraping in accordance with mine safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Longhole Driller;
  • Experience operating a Sandvik DL 421-15C & DL431-7
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the Underground Hard Rock Mining Industry preferably with Production charging experience, Up and Down holes;
  • Must be able to understand and drill to production design plan;
  • Previous experience Drilling both Up and Down holes using drill bit sizes ranging from 76mm – 152mm
  • Knowledge of Underground Mining Practices and the efficient operation of an Underground Longhole Machine.
  • Sound mechanical knowledge of a Sandvik DD 421-15C & DL431-7
  • Able to set up the drill on semi automation for continuous drilling over shift change.
  • West Australian Dangerous Goods Security card or Tanzanian Blast Certificate;
  • Ability to work autonomously/independently with limited supervision;
  • Demonstrated abilities to work within a team environment;
  • Commitment to safety.
  • Current International or Tanzanian Drivers License.
