Role overview
As a business development expert you will work towards increasing access to employment opportunities and promote economic empowerment for particularly youths in two regions, Mwanza and Shinyanga.
The Ideal person will train the youth participating in project to help them identify business opportunities and to improve market awareness.

The Business development expert is also expected to enhance the ability and opportunity for youth income generating groups to access appropriate financing to grow their businesses. The candidate will work hand in hand with the corporate volunteers who will be engaged in the similar position to Increase the capacity of youth and youth groups to develop and grow sustainable businesses.

Skills, qualifications and experience
• A bachelor degree in economics, business, marketing or related subject.
• A couple of years relevant work experience in eg business development

Desired:
• Experience in business management in a large corporation.
• Experience in new business development and/or start-up.
• Knowledge in project management.
• Facilitation and training skills.
• Experience in developing operational processes that decrease costs, increase efficiency and quality to meet customer needs.

• Managed and directed teams to efficiently develop cost effective innovative solutions that drive results.
• Ability to drive results with limited resources.
• Able to formulate and implement SME adherence to national product regulations, policies and procedures.
• Experience in a Management Leadership role

Allowance
As a VSO volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full time basis. VSO will cover your travel, vaccinations, accommodation, and medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home. You will also receive some financial support to contribute to your on-going expenses at home.

Accommodation
VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.

Role overview
The project aims to improve and increase access to employment opportunities and promote economic empowerment for youth in two regions Mwanza and Shinyanga. The Field officer is expected to support implementation of the project by providing logistical support, trainings, writing reports and not the least monitor and follow up project activities. The person will ensure that the project outcomes are delivered according to goals and that alliances and networks are built to support the project

The successful candidate will also train volunteers on formation and running of youth groups (Youth Serving and Loans Methodology, YSLA, and Income Generating Associations, IGA) so that they can support the formation, running and registering of youth groups.

Skills, qualifications and experience
Qualifications (essential): 
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in community development, sociology, social work, Business Administration or any other related field.
• Experience in forming and running Youth Groups (YSLA and IGA)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to vary communication content and style to suit audiences to inform, motivate and inspire

Desirable:
• Highly experienced in private sector. Ability to meet demands of the private sector.
• Proven experience of building mutually beneficial alliances and networks at senior levels
• Previous experience in project management
