Job Title: Financial management Adviser

Job purpose
The aim of the Financial Management Advisor role is to work with the Project implementing partners – SIDCO, TCCIA, and TWCC - to coach local SMEs in improving their financial management capacity and their ability to access financing, win contracts, budget, and report financially. This will entail direct interaction with various SMEs that are at the inception or early stages of their operations that will benefit from financial insight to reach the next level of growth. By working with national volunteers, you will be supported in language and cultural interpretation when fostering relationships with various local SMEs.

We always work in partnerships, supporting and bringing together diverse partners (government departments, community-based organisations, NGOs and the private sector) who are strategically placed to advance pro-poor policies and programmes. We have been working in Tanzania since 1961, strengthening capacity to improve the quality, delivery, and access of services in education, health, and secure livelihoods. 

Job Description
Note; these objectives are subject to improvement/modification after discussion with the project manager as well as implementing partner. 

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will:
  • Train SME staff in simple financial and basic accounting
  • Working with SME staff to develop sound financial processes for budgeting and managing expenditure
  • Coach and mentor partner staff to improve business support service
  • Develop tools and training materials partner staff that can be used in their business development services
  • Improve the capacity of SMEs to win contracts with companies in the extractives and agriculture value chains

Key Performance Indicators
  • Trained SME staff in simple financial and basic Accounting n
  • Sound financial processes are developed for budgeting and managing expenditure

These KPI’s can be subject to change if deemed necessary by project manager or employee.

Skills and Knowledge
Qualifications (essential):
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field
  • 3 – 5 years’ work experience in developing financial management systems
  • Ability to formulate and implement financial regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Good experience in establishing and supporting organization development
  • Experience in developing and delivering workshops

Desirable:
  • Entrepreneurial experience
  • Food production and/or manufacturing experience
  • International work experience
  • Volunteer experience
