Summary:
The U.S. Mission in Dar es Salaam is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Air Condition (A/C) Mechanic in the Facilities Maintenance Section.
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Duties
Installation, troubleshooting, diagnose, maintenance and repair: 50%

This position is responsible to install, troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain and repair all Heating/Ventilation and Air conditioning Equipment, air handling equipment, all humidity control equipment, all associated pumping systems, piping systems and control systems, and all electric refrigeration systems at the embassy residences and the embassy compound.
Maintains and repairs all systems such as Chillers, Air Handling Units, Air duct working systems, compressors, cooling units, condensers, valves, relays, switches, piping and Freon gas recovery and replacement systems, additionally performs electrical work on the control systems and power supplies. Identify all required parts, materials supplies, inputs these into the procurement systems and estimates his/her projects or repairs completely. Plans and schedules work load in conjunction with Supervisor.

Prevention maintenance inspection: 40%
Duties include performing Monthly prevention maintenance inspections , examination and surveys of equipment and prepare reports on the condition of equipment with recommendations on repair or replacement work required. Prepares monthly/weekly inventory requests for parts and materials needed for preventative maintenance program. Conducts the preventative maintenance program with the other A/C Mechanics. Provides recommendations to Maintenance Supervisor and Facility Manager on equipment replacements, repair, and modifications to existing standard operating procedures. 

Keeping track of Heating/Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC) 10%
Operate and keep track of the performance of all Heating/Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC) systems at the Embassy and at all GOV Owned \long term and short term lease residences .Maintain records of all materials used in maintenance works for HVAC. Work with manufacturers’ manuals and technical drawings as necessary.
Performs job activities and duties in a responsible manner to avoid the creation of safety or health hazards; conforms to established safety and health policies and procedures; properly utilizes appropriate personal protection equipment as required by the job activity; informs supervisor of all accidents, illnesses and injuries; promptly reports unsafe or hazardous conditions.
Any other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years work experience in air-conditioning, Building Automation Systems (BAS) hardware, Chiller System experience, AHU (Air Handling Units) and Split Pack experience is required.

Education Requirements:
Completion of Secondary School (form IV) is required. Completion of technical vocational school or equivalent training is required.

Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level III (good working knowledge) in English (speaking, writing and reading) and Level IV (fluent) in Kiswahili (speaking, writing and reading) is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Driver’s license class B&D is required.

Duties
Installation and Maintenance of equipment: 25%

Installs Domestic electric and solar water heaters, installs and maintains water distribution lines and equipment and work from engineering drawings, installs and troubleshoots and repairs underground pipe connections up to 10 inches or 250 MM in diameter, installs copper pipes, CPC pipes, UPVC pipes, Galvanized pipes, Cast Iron pipes, ductile iron pipes, and all pressure pumps up to 250 horsepower. Maintain, repair and install all types of plumbing equipment including lavatories, sinks, cisterns and bathtubs.

Maintenance of bathroom fixtures and accessories: 25%
Conducts preventive maintenance (PM) for all plumbing systems pumps and water treatment systems at the embassy and all residences. All connections must be able to withstand 6 bar minimal pressure. Estimates, plans and schedules all jobs by examining assigned work, estimating total materials necessity, making materials requests and ascertaining that total required materials have been issued by the warehouse personnel prior to starting project or task. Analyses instructions and in conjunction with Supervisor determines work priorities. Maintains, repairs and fits all types of plumbing equipment including pressure pumps, water tanks, piping distribution systems, lavatories, water distillers, sinks, showers, clothes washing machines, cisterns and bathtubs at all Mission residences and NEC. 

Maintenance of Reverse Osmosis, water Storage Tanks drainage systems etc.: 25%
Assists in maintaining Reverse Osmosis, Water Storage Tanks, Tank Farms, Sewage Effluent Lift Stations, Grease Traps, Storm Drainage System, underground fuel systems, and wastewater plants no matter where on USG property they are located. Conduct plumbing preventive maintenance. Coordinates with water supply authority when necessary. Operate and keep track of the performance of the Portable Water treatment plant (PWTP) Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant, Waste Water treatment plant (WWTP) and Pump stations at the Embassy. 

Records maintenance and Coordination: 25%
Maintain records of all materials used for plumbing work at the embassy and on site. Work with manufacturers’ manuals and technical drawings, from blueprints and drawings as necessary. Carry out welding and soldering assignments for the works at the Embassy and residences. Works with masons to fit all necessary piping.
Performs job activities and duties in a responsible manner to avoid the creation of safety or health hazards; Conforms to established safety and health policies and procedures; properly utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment as required by job activity;informs supervisor of all accidents, illnesses and injuries; promptly reports unsafe or hazardous conditions.
