Summary: The U.S. Mission in Dar es Salaam is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Public Health Specialist – Multidisciplinary Strategist at Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Duties
The incumbent serves as deputy and senior public health technical advisor to the Associate Director of Programs (ADP) and Country Director (CD). Job holder shares oversight responsibilities for the development and implementation of public health-related technical program activities and has direct responsibility for day-to-day coordination of CDC-Tanzania’s program portfolio that supports the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The main responsibility of the incumbent is creating and implementing a framework to support strategic clustering of implementing mechanisms (IMs) with the intent to streamline CDC-TZ efforts with the shared vision of PEPFAR and Government of Tanzania (GOT) for HIV epidemic control. This position will also be responsible for the programmatic and technical planning, development and coordination of the clusters to 1) conceptualize and manage the CDC-Tanzania portfolio as ONE large-scale complex public health strategy instead of individual IMs, 2) identify and address gaps in scope of the IMs; and 3) utilize IM resources for maximum impact on epidemic control. The incumbent works closely with the ADP to ensure that all office/branch activities contribute to measurable results that are in accordance with agency regulations, PEPFAR strategic objectives, GOT strategic objectives, international ethical guidelines and standards for public health care.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Five years progressively responsible public health experience in complex public health service-delivery projects within an HIV/AIDS intervention framework is required; an additional two years managerial responsibility with multiple staffing reporting is required.

Education Requirements:
Education: A Masters Degree (or host country equivalent) in Public Health Education or Health Science is required.

LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluency – speaking/reading/writing) in English and Kiswahili is required. (this may be tested)
