Consultancy - Translation of audio/video interviews for the Community Health and Social
Welfare Systems Strengthening ProgramIntroduction
The Community Health and Social Welfare Systems Strengthening Program (CHSSP) supports the Government of Tanzania to strengthen the country’s health and social welfare system to ensure that there are human resources to provide services at the community level in 68 councils. The program helps control Tanzania’s HIV epidemic by expanding social services to vulnerable populations, with a focus on adolescent girls and young women, most vulnerable children, and people living with HIV. CHSSP’s work is guided by the government and PEPFAR 3.0 priorities in accordance with the UNAIDS Fast Track Strategy.

Rationale
As the project moves forward, there is a need to document its work professionally for sharing with stakeholders, including the U.S. government, the government of Tanzania, and other international donors. The work of the project will be documented by a photographer through photos and videos; all interviews are expected to be conducted in Swahili by the CHSSP team.NAFASI ZA KAZI / AJIRA TANZANIA
However, in order to ensure accuracy in language, there is a need to translate and transcribe all interviews (audio/video) to English,
which will help in the production of the final videos.
Overall Objective
• To translate and transcribe all audio/video interviews
Scope of Work
The general scope of this assignment shall be of translating recorded audio and video clips from Swahili to English. The consultant will be provided with the files to transcribe in a Word document. The number of audio/videos clips will range from 8 to 10 with different lengths ranging from 15 minutes to 60 minutes.
The Consultant will work closely with the Photographer and JSI team to make sure that the files to be translated are completed on time with guidance provided.
Timeframe
Duration for this assignment is expected to be approximately 15 cumulative days in total (actual days may vary based on final number of files to be translated and transcribed) during the period of November 2018. The assignment will start after signing of a formal contract with CHSSP.
Expected deliverables
The following outputs will be delivered as part of this support:
Expected deliverables
1. Inception Report to include the following:
Introduction, scope of work, methodology, accountabilities and any other relevant appendices.
2. Review of the audio/video files
3. Full Swahili to English transcripts of all audio/video footage
4. Submission of the first draft to CHSSP
5. Receive feedback from the CHSSP
6. Presentation of the final work to CHSSP
7. Approval for final disbursement CHSSP
Reporting
The Consultant will report to the CHSSP Communication Director.
Consultant’s Profile
The consultant should have: a Master’s degree in Linguistics, Mass Communications, Journalism or related field; be able to demonstrate proof of experience in carrying out similar assignments in Tanzania or elsewhere; at least 10 years’ experience, well versed with using audio, video applications (downloading, playback of audios/videos),
