NECTA Cancels Standard Seven Exam Results for Schools of 3 Regions Over Cheating
The National Examination Council of Tanzania (Necta) has cancelled examination results for 8 primary schools because of cheating.
The affected primary schools are all in Chemba district council (Dodoma), Hazina and New Hazina Primary schools both in Kinondoni (Dar es Salaam), Aniny Nndumi and Fountain of Joy in Ubungo (Dar es Salaam) and Alliance and New Alliance primary schools in Mwanza.

Necta Executive Secretary Dr Charles Msonde said on Tuesday October 2nd in Dar es Salaam that education officers and teachers in the said schools were involved in leaking exams to pupils.
Necta got a tip off from exams supervisors at the schools, said Dr Msonde at a press conference.
“We have found, without doubt that some of the teachers including head-teachers, education officers and some of the supervisors broke the oath that they took before the examinations commenced,” he said while mentioning some of the culprits’ names.

Dr Msonde warned that stern measures would be taken against all the suspects after investigations were completed.
“We are tracking throughout the chain of examination transfer to find out the source of the leakage,” he said, adding that Necta has asked security agencies to immediately hold the culprits so they can help in further investigations.

Dr Msonde said pupils in the affected schools would re-seat for the exams in two weeks’ time from the day of this announcement.
“…the pupils from all these schools will resit their final examinations on 8-9 October, 2018, so it is better they get prepared,” he said.

In Dar es Salaam, Hazina and New Hazina will do their exams at Oysterbay primary, Fountain of Joy and Aniny Nndumi will conduct their exams at Mbezi Primary school, Alliance and New Alliance will have their exams ready at Mahina Primary in Mwanza and Kondoa Integrity primary pupils will do their examinations at Bicha primary school in Kondoa.

Primary school pupils in the country sat for their final standard seven examination on 5 and 6 September, respectively. The final examination results are not yet announced.
