Jobs in Tanzania 2019: Technical Writing Coach-Short Term Consultancy at RTI International May 2019
AJIRA TANZANIA 2019 / NAFASI ZA KAZI 2019
Position: Technical Writing Coach-Short Term Consultancy
Promoting Tanzania's Environment, Conservation, and Tourism (PROTECT) is a five-year USAID project. The project's objective is to address drivers that threaten biodiversity conservation and inhibit private sector-led tourism growth in Tanzania including; poor natural resource access rights, weak policies and regulations on natural resource management, insufficient data and knowledge management, few successful economic models which incentivize conservation, unaddressed market failures which create perverse incentives toward resource exploitation, and rampant corruption.

The PROTECT activities are designed to address these drivers using the Nature, Wealth, and Power framework and a systems approach to improve effectiveness, efficiencies, and equity in promoting conservation; fighting poaching and wildlife trafficking; reducing poverty; and improving natural resource governance.

RTI International is recruiting a short-term technical writing coach for a six-week consultancy in Tanzania for our USAID PROTECT project. The USAID PROTECT project has a staff of 15 Tanzanian professionals and two expatriates in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, who develop a wide range of materials, written in English, including technical Scopes of Work, periodic reports, and communication materials.

The period of performance is for six weeks, between July-September 2019. The Technical Writing Coach will be expected to work Monday-Friday 9am-5pm at the USAID PROTECT office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The USAID PROTECT Tanzanian staff are already proficient in the English language, however, they require some additional support to advance their technical writing, specifically:
• Summarizing and prioritizing key information in technical reports
• Editing and reviewing documents
• Organizing technical ideas into paragraphs and documents
• Ensuring the correct use of active and passive voice
• Strengthening presentation development and delivery skills
