REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to Underground Maintenance Supervisor
CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The
purpose of this role is to provide technical maintenance services on
various mechanical infrastructure systems and execute mechanical related
projects to maintain equipment to the required performance precisely
fit out of gearboxes, pumps and valves; balancing and testing; assembly
of mining equipment plus associated components and general fitting.. .
ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE
The fitter Mechanics has the following accountabilities and authorities: -
•
Preventive Maintenance: Performs various mechanical infrastructure
systems inspections as assigned, these are daily, weekly, monthly
inspections to maintain equipment availability.Source: AjiraLeo Tanzania
• Effective and efficient inspection on each item is required for effectively maintenance planning.
• Corrective Maintenance: Repair, replace or modify various mechanical parts to minimize equipment downtime.
•
Repairing, maintenance and installation activities on infrastructure
such as, pumps and associated dewatering infrastructure, primary axial
ventilation fans, ladder ways, vehicle wash-down bays, monorails and
associated lifting devices etc.
•
Inspect. analyse and record critical mechanical information during the
process of undertaking mechanical refurbishment work; this critical
information would include the interpretations of wear and tear,
mechanical damage to Gears, Shafts, Housing etc. recording of end
floats, preloads, gear train, backlashes, tooth contacts and other at
the start and completion of every refurbishment.
•
Execute various mechanical related projects to the required quality and
standards, these include but not limited to fabrication and erect iron
steel structure buildings, water systems upgrade, sewage systems
upgrade, fire systems upgrade, new shed construction, roof steel
structure installation, weld (vulcanize) various sizes of poly pipes and
HDPE pipes.
Qualification:• FTC or Trade Test qualified grade I, II, or III - Mechanical or Diesel Fitting Trade Certificate
• Have a valid driver's 'license
• Minimum 5 years' experience including general machining
• Have extensive experience in a similar role in the Open / Underground Mining Industry
• Experience in the maintenance of infrastructure the mining site.Source: AjiraLeo Tanzania
• Extensive knowledge of underground mobile mining equipment and underground fixed plant
• Previous experience reliability engineering and maintenance planning
• Maintenance, construction and modification experience
