Underground Mechanical Trainers
Position:
Underground Mechanical Trainers
North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit Underground Mechanical Trainers to join Underground Maintenance team. The successful candidate for this position will carry out assigned mechanical tasks within the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practice as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies. The position will report to Mobile Maintenance Superintendent. This is a two years fixed contract role, with the work roster being fifty-six (56) days at work and twenty-eight (28) days off work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
  • Maintaining, repairing mechanical issues, diagnostics / Fault Finding and Routine inspection on a variety of UG machines Coordinate activities in the unit and report back to Mobile Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Ensure that mobile equipment is maintained in a safe and cost effective manner.
  • Ensure all Barrick safe work practices are observed, and implemented in the department of responsibility.
  • Ensure the preparation and execution of maintenance plans and schedules on the basis of daily, weekly and monthly mining and ore processing priorities.
  • Supervising, training, developing and nationalization of the maintenance team.
  • End of month reporting of maintenance performance against plan.
  • The quality, cost and timeliness of maintenance activities are critical to the project as a whole.
  • Ensure maintenance costs are kept to, or below assigned budget.
  • Display a sense of urgency to ensure timely repair and maintenance of mine equipment.
  • Contribute to the operations by ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned and completed in a cost effective manner with minimal disruption to ore processing and mining activities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safe work practices by example and act immediately on any unsafe act or situation observed and monitor standards.
  • Actively promote and foster the development of a pro-active site safety behaviors that makes safety an integral part of all work activities.
  • Identify and rectify/report specific hazards using Job Safety Analysis (JSA) process.
  • Assist with accident/incident investigation and with the induction and training of new employees.
  • Ensure all employees reporting to this position attend safety related training courses and engage in any of the company’s safety initiatives.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • A relevant trade qualification in mechanical or Technician Certificate from ajira a recognized institution.
  • A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 8 years’ Artisanal experience in mechanical fitting and mobile equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated competencies in the rebuild and servicing of underground mining mobile equipment’s.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong Safety Background and ability to drive a Safe working environment and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Computer skills –MS Excel, Access, Word, Outlook.

Underground Shift Boss
Job Title:
Underground Shift Boss
North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit Two (02) Shift boss to join Underground Mining Production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervision of the mine crews, to ensure safety is managed, and overall performance is monitored and efficient. Ensure that any non-conforming items (Quality and quantity) are immediately isolated and reported for corrective action to be taken. The position will report to UG Foreman. This is a two years fixed contract role, with the work roster being fifty-six (56) days at work and twenty-eight (28) days off work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise underground operations crews.
  • Ensures compliance with the Mines Act.
  • Ensures workplace safety and environmental standards are established and met, and that standards and procedures are communicated to site personnel.
  • Ensure daily mine plan for the shift is achieved and compliance to mine to plan.
  • Assists with filling personnel requirements for mine and other departments.
  • Assists with sourcing and filling equipment needs.
  • Prioritizes tasks and delegates workload to mine crews and monitors progress.
  • Provides leadership and encourages performance and ensure the crew is taking the ownership.
  • Communicates routinely and effectively with the Mine Manager and other supervisory personnel as required.
  • Performs other related duties that may be required.
  • Full compliance with underground safety management plan.
  • Assist with accident/incident investigation and training of new employees.
  • Ensure all employees reporting to this position attend safety related training courses and engage in any of the companies safety initiatives.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in underground operations.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of reading drawings and ability to follow specifications.
  • A degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering will be of added advantage.

Job Title:
Jumbo Operators
North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit Jumbo Operators to join Underground Production team. The successful candidates for this position will carry out assigned tasks within the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies. Key duties are to operate Jumbo drilling rigs for mine development and install ground support according to quality specifications safely and efficiently. Also responsible for minimization of secondary breakage and over break and correct installation of ground support systems in accordance with geotechnical plans. The position will report to Production Manager – Underground. This is a two years fixed contract role..

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Mark up faces in accordance with geological, statutory and survey specification.
  • Install all ground support and drill cable bolt hole, decline etc.
  • Work without supervision to lead and complete technical activities for the department and ensure accurate and timely completion of activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
  • Responsible for conducting and reporting results while maintaining accurate and detailed records and or plods.
  • Prepare communication materials, manuals and other written materials related to technical issues, programs or systems.
  • Responds to complex technical problems, making decisions that are guided by policies.
  • Prioritizes and schedules work that are requested by the department.
  • May be responsible for the inspection and replacement of company tools.
  • Provides informal mentoring and learning to colleagues with less experience to enhance their technical knowledge and skill sets.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • College or technical training equivalent to 2 years of study.
  • Ability to read and understand designed ground support plans.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of jumbo rigs.
  • Must demonstrate good oral / written communication skills in English.
  • Team Player and result oriented.
  • Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 08 -10 years of experience as a Jumbo Trainer/ Operator preferable under expatriate conditions.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with Tamrock 2009 Axera Twin Boom Jumbos.
  • Proven previous experience in Underground Mining.
  • Previous supervisory/Trainer experience.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Understanding of basic Underground Mines Health & Safety Act.

North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit One (01) Superintendent – Underground Long Term Planning Engineer to join North Mara team. The successful candidates for this position will carry out assigned Processing tasks within the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practice as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies. This is a permanent role. The position will report to Technical Services Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Superintendent Mining Engineer – UG Mining is to ensure the mine operation functions effectively in an efficient and safe manner to meet relevant budgets and targets.
  • Ensure Mining engineers are performing to the standard required.
  • Provide miscellaneous technical and mining engineering support to the department, site management team, and other relevant employees and contractors.
  • Ensure a compliance with environmental management practices that minimize the impact of the operation
  • Provide guidance to employees to assist improve their skills and performance.
  • Provide comprehensive and timely contributions to the weekly, monthly and annual reports.
  • Ensure that the mining engineering capability and performance is maintained through appropriate selection of employees, establishing clear accountabilities for all team members, effective performance management, development and training of employees.
  • Assist and support the Technical Services Manager in the preparation and implementation of short, medium, and long-term plans, schedules and targets.
  • Effectively coordinate the planning, survey, and mining employees.

The successful candidates for this position will carry out assigned Processing tasks within the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practice as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies. This is a permanent role. The position will report to OC Mining Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Superintendent OC Mining is responsible for the safe and efficient production of ore and waste to the approved Mining Plan. The role is a leadership role and as such, is accountable for ensure that each subordinate is adequately supported with equipment, personnel resources, skills, appropriate engineering controls and information to manage safety and production quality in the working area. Ensuring all activities undertaken by employees and subcontractors are carried out in accordance with the operation’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental management practices that minimize the impact of the operation on the environment.
  • Managing work allocated to him in line with requirements of mining operations and from other departments that supports the business objectives. Liaise with the Mining Engineers, Geologists and the Plant, to ensure that the crusher feed tonnage and blend is in accordance with the plan.
  • Ensuring ongoing effective people management of the Department by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and development through training of staff. Manage Succession Planning within the Mining Team to ensure that Barrick achieves development of Tanzanian employees to assume positions of increasing accountability.
  • Managing expenditure within the department through close supervision of contractors, control of labour employed, control of expenditure on parts, equipment, consumables and services and control of all sources of loss within the department. Implement and monitor operations budgeting and cost control systems.
  • Provide leadership to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrate initiative by being able to take full responsibility for production and quality of the mining operation, i.e. drilling, blasting, excavation, dumping and construction.
  • Able to interpret mine plans and effectively communicate targets and goals to the production teams
