Mission and objectives
UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Our mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.

Context

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s strategic plan (2022-2025) focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end the unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and all harmful practices. In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical staff who embody these international norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction. UNFPA is seeking candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high-impact and sustained results; we need staff who are transparent, exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results. At UNFPA Tanzania , under the overall guidance and supervision of the Representative, Communication Analyst will act as UNFPA’s documentation focal point to coordinate and pro-vide day-to-day support to the consultant. The UNV Communications Associate (Graphics Design) will report to the UNFPA Communications Analyst. The overall objective of the UNV Communications Associate (Graphics Design) is to assist in the development and implementation of the overall UNFPA Tanzania Communications Strategy and plans, with particular focus on the digital communication, design of communication and advocacy support materials. This includes leading in the design of programme communications activities (social and behavior change communication) that lead to communicating of results and in leveraging a variety of platforms, including social media and the UN International Days with the aim of increasing UNFPA Mandate visibility in achieving the UNFPA’s Three Zeros. All of which needs to be fully in-line with UNFPA’s Corporate Communication Strategy.

Living conditions and remarks

Tanzania has a proud and long-lasting tradition of harmony; and a culture that places great emphasis on welcoming others. It is generally a safe and peaceful country. However, just like in any other country it is wise to observe certain precautions, especially in larger urban areas. Dar es Salaam is the largest City in Tanzania, as the major port and commercial center. Although the Government has since 2018 shifted to Dodoma (the political and administrative capital city of Tanzania), Embassies and UN offices are based in Dar-es-Salaam. Dar es Sa-laam is situated on the coast, overlooking the Indian Ocean. It is an International multicultural city with a mix of religions. There is a wide range of facilities available, including numerous shopping centers, movie theatres, restaurants and many new developments planned.. Most international staff live in the seaside neighborhoods of Masaki and Oyster Bay, and to a lesser extent in Msasani and Mikocheni all of which cluster in and around a peninsula to the north of the city center.
