Invitation For Expression Of Interest at Tanzania Tobacco Board February, 2024 Re: Invitation For Expression Of Interest In Manufacturing Of Tobacco Wrapping Materials
Tanzania Tobacco Board is a crop regulatory body established under the Tobacco Industry Act No. 24 of 2001 (as amended by Crop Laws (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act No. 20 of 2009). The Board is mandated by section 5 of the Industry Act to carry out regulatory functions and such other activities necessary, advantageous or proper for the benefit of the tobacco industry and shall include among others the following: –
- Formulation, implementation and enforcement of policies, guidelines and standards aimed at regulating and improving the performance of the tobacco industry in Tanzania.
- Provision of advice to the Minister responsible for Agriculture and Government in general on all matters related to the tobacco Industry: and
- Promotion and development of a conducive environment for effective and fair competition to all stakeholders in the tobacco industry.

Tanzania Tobacco Board wishes to invite all manufacturing industries in Tanzania to apply for manufacturing of tobacco-wrapping materials (jute twine, cotton twine and hessian cloth) for the crop season 2024/2025. The wrapping materials shall have the following specifications: –
Hessian Cloth
Hessian cloth shall be of Food Grade(Hydrocarbon Free), 45″ X lloz Vegetable Oil treated with non-oil based paint.
Jute Twine
Jute twine shall be natural, unbleached 3ply, 14 lbs, 90″ reels in packaging of 180 Kgs per Bale.
Cotton Twine
Cotton twine shall be acid-free, unbleached 4ply, approximately 40kg/cm2 tensile strength, rummage/kg 400 Metres, and packing 40 spools of 1.5 kg per carton.
