TEACHER TRAINING COORDINATOR OPPORTUNITY
OVERVIEW
Project Zawadi’s mission is to ensure Tanzanian children and youth have access to a quality education. Project Zawadi (PZ) is a small non-profit organization that provides support via three programs: Student Support, School Support (Model Schools), and Professional Teacher Training (Tenda Teachers).

The Tenda Teachers program promotes active competence based teaching and learning techniques. We offer intensive teacher training workshops locally for teachers to learn and practice these active competence-based skills. We provide additional support through school visits, observations, and model lessons to support teachers in the use of these skills. Tenda Teachers Training Coordinators are responsible for supporting the Tenda Teacher Program Manager and the Tenda Teachers Program work in schools.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of teacher training resources
  • Organize, coordinate, and facilitate teacher training workshops
  • Work in a range of schools, and with colleagues, to assist with the implementation of the Tenda Teachers Professional Development Program
  • Conduct teacher’s observations and record what is truly observed
  • Provide support and encouragement to teachers.
  • Keep records to monitor the program’s implementation
  • Liaise with Head Teachers and provide them with support and encouragement
  • Prepare and conduct modal lessons and guided lesson plans
  • Prepare all activity reports
  • Perform all duties in a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications for the Job:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field or minimum of five years comparable work experience. Preference given to candidates with experience in: educational pedagogy, teacher training and professional development, workshop facilitation, curriculum development, public speaking, programmatic evaluation, and the curriculum and structure of the Tanzanian education system. Work is done primarily in Chamriho Division, Bunda District, Mara Region but may require substantial travel in Tanzania.

  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to manage priorities for multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Excellent computer skills on MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Experience and interest in working collaboratively with community members.
  • An understanding of the benefits of participatory work.

Compensation:
Salary range is 800,000 to 1,200,000 tsh per month depending on education & experience.
