Project Manager at Community Consortium Uganda (CCU) Tanzania June 2025

Community Consortium Uganda (CCU) will implement a 15 months project, Obstacle Race Against Stigma and Shame (ORASS) in Dar Es Salaam, Tabora, and Mbeya.
ORASS is a transformative, four-phase initiative designed to tackle mental health stigma among Tanzanian youth aged 10-24. ORASS integrates sports-based interventions, active learning, peer support networks, and community engagement to address the mental health challenges faced by young people in Tanzania. The project aims to create lasting behavioral changes by using physical challenges like obstacle races, wall climbing, aerobics, and adventure sports to mirror the emotional and mental barriers associated with mental health stigma. 

These activities not only promote resilience but also integrate mental health awareness and stigma reduction directly into the sports experience. ORASS is innovative in its approach by combining sports, experiential learning, and mental health education, moving beyond traditional classroom-based interventions

The Project manager will, lead and oversee the planning, implementation and monitoring of the ORASS Project. The Project Manager will build the capacity of local staff to effectively deliver project activities in line with CCU standards and Donor compliance requirements. This role requires strong coordination, coaching and mentoring skills, project management expertise, and a deep understanding of mental health and protection issues affecting refugees and new arrivals.

Major Roles and Responsibilities; 
  • Provide support to partners for Project Planning and Implementation
  • Partnership Management including capacity building and Learning pathways
  • Monitoring, Evaluation Learning and Reporting.
  • Grants management, compliance and visibility
  • Effective Coordination
  • Staff management and Supervision

Qualifications, Skills and Competence required; 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, social work, humanitarian assistance, or a related discipline
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in protection programming or refugee response.
  • Strong understanding of protection principles, SGBV, Child Protection and MHPSS , approaches.
  • Proven experience in coaching, mentoring of local partners and also in project planning, budget management, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Job Type: Full-time
  • Commitment to humanitarian values, including impartiality, neutrality, and respect for diversity.
  • Strong social and communication skills for team management as well as for liaising with external stakeholders and partners.
  • Fluency in English, and preferably able to speak in one of the local refugee languages.
  • Problem solving skills, able to deal independently with fieldwork related issues.
  • Strong computer, report writing and documentation skills
