The East African Community is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising the Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of South Sudan and the Republic of Uganda with its Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
The EAC mission is to widen and deepen economic, political, social and cultural integration to improve the quality of life of the people of East Africa through increased competitiveness, value added production, trade and investments.

This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated and result-driven professionals who are citizens of East African Community Partner States (Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan and United Republic of Tanzania) to apply for the following position tenable at East African Community Legislative Assembly.
RESEARCH OFFICER (1 Post)

Organ  : East African Legislative Assembly
Grade : P1
Reports to : Senior Research Officer
Main purpose of the job:
To provide technical support in research, documentation and dissemination of information to staff and Members of the East African Legislative Assembly.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Support the Assembly to establish effective research, documentation and information dissemination systems.
  2. Document and disseminate on-going research findings
  3. Provide support to staff and Members of the Assembly in building in-house research
  4. Conduct research and write papers on varied subjects for the use of the Committees of the Assembly.
  5. Organize and catalogue the work and output of the Assembly.
  6. Provide service to Standing Committees as and when necessary.
  7. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Management.

Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Social sciences or related fields.
  2. Minimum five (5) years relevant work experience in the field of research in a busy and    reputable organization.
  3. Post graduate qualifications in research methods and knowledge of computer based statistical packages will be an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should have good interpersonal, communication, research and report writing skills.

Applicants from the Republic of Burundi, Republic of Rwanda, Republic of South Sudan, and United Republic of Tanzania are eligible to apply for the above position.

Terms and Conditions of Service:
The above position is tenable for a contract of five (5) years renewable once.

Education Qualifications:
All candidates applying must have qualifications that are recognized by the relevant national accreditation body in their respective Partner State. This condition is applicable for locally and internationally attained qualifications.
All professions that require registration with the specific professional bodies will be expected to do so in compliance with the requirements of their respective Partner States.

Relevant Working Experience:
Internship, training and apprenticeship will not be considered as relevant work experience.
