Job Description
International Rescue Committee (IRC) is the leading education agency in Nyarugusu and Mtendeli refugees’ camp which are respectively located in Kasulu and Kakonko District Councils in Kigoma region. The IRC has been supporting the implementation of Burundian and Congolese education curriculums with close support from UNHCR, UNICEF and other agencies since 2014. UNHCR as the leading organization for refugees’ protection, coordinates all the activities in the camp, in collaboration with Ministry of Home Affair (MHA) which is the government of Tanzania authority in the camp.
The IRC is also working closely with Ministry of Education, Science and Vocational Training (MoEVT), Tanzania National Examination Council (NECTA) on coordination of National Examination for Burundian population and other implementing agencies in Nyarugusu and Mtendeli refugee camps to ensure the quality delivery of education services.

Rationale
The education program, observed a need of bringing on board education interns to support the number of activities within the program. The interns must have education background to be able to gain appropriate skills and experience on the same area of professional. During the period of internship the intern will be able to work with Education staff, different local and international partners as well as government authorities. Apart from the professional code of conduct, he/she shall agree to abide with IRC Way and relevant policies. IRC has zero tolerance policy to violation of IRC Way.

Overall Objective
The overall objective of the education intern shall be to support the implementation of education curriculum in Nyarugusu/Mtendeli refugee camp

Specific Objectives
• Supervise incentive coordination team, setting goals and do close monitoring to ensure that goals are achieved
• Perform classroom observations in schools by conducting regular school visits and compile detailed report on the weekly basis
• Support distribution of scholastic materials in schools per distribution plan and prepare distribution report
• Design appropriate education monitoring tools to enable easy collection of data/information for program feedback and evaluation
• Support facilitation of professional development training to both primary and secondary school teachers in Nyarugusu/Mtendeli refugee camp
• In collaboration with M&E team, conduct data collection, data analysis and compile assessment reports
• Participate on PTAs, Education camp management meetings and other related meetings as assigned by supervisor

Scope
The Education Intern shall work at Nyarugusu/Mtendeli camp for three months (3) with the support from Education Manager and Officers. The Intern will be based at Makere/Mtendeli camp.
Terms of Payment
IRC will facilitate the accommodation, transport to and from the camp and payment of Tsh 150,000 per month as intern allowance.

Qualifications
• Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in Education from a recognized University/College.
• Ability to plan and manage project
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Good IT skills: knowledge of MS Word; Excel and Outlook required
• Swahili and good English written and oral skills required. French and Kirundi is a plus.
