Overview

Vacancy Driver office support-  Sustainable Agriculture in Kigoma Region Project (SAKiRP) –

Duty Station: Kakonko - Kigoma 
Contract duration: 1 year renewable

Main duties and responsibilities:

Driving of programme vehicles

• Driving of personnel and collecting and delivering documents/parcels as directed by the supervisor.

• Safe driving, respecting rule of the road avoiding unnecessary risks, speeding, etc.

• Ensuring proper security of the vehicle at all times (while on missions and at the duty station)

Maintenance of vehicles

• Keep all the programme vehicles clean and in good driving condition.

• Daily inspection of the vehicles: tyre pressure, conditions bushes, condition shock absorbers, oil and water levels, radiator, conditions brakes etc.

• According to the vehicles manual: do the small maintenance.

• Maintain a service log of vehicles and ensure regular servicing.

Logistical support and office maintenance.

• Distribution of letters and other documents.

• Looking for genuine and price effective pro-forma invoices.

• During periods when there is no driving: assist colleagues whenever necessary with maintenance, office tasks.

Qualifications and experience

• Tanzanian nationality, minimum age 30

• A current Class C driving license, valid and clean driving record. Additional qualifications from a nationally recognized training institution in driving or motor mechanics would be an advantage.

• Minimum education: certificate of secondary education

• At least 5 years of experience in driving a 4WD vehicle in remote areas.

• Having worked for an international development project, NGO or large company is an asset.

• Fluency in spoken Kiswahili and ability to speak and understand English

• Knowledgeable of operating and safety rules and regulations

• Ability/experience in basic mechanics. Ability to detect and repair minor dysfunctions

• Familiar with routes, driving conditions, and services available in Kigoma region.

• Able to work well under pressure and willing to work overtime

• Trustworthy, high sense of responsibility, alertness, physical fitness on duty, emotional stability, neat and courteous, pro-active, multitasking attitude
