JOB ADVERT: Safety Coordinator (02 POSITIONS)
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Safety Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the mining department are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

Reporting to: Safety Superintendent
Duration: Permanent
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating BGML & Contractors weekly management meeting
- Understanding of related departments activities and manage their impact on the program.
- Provide an effective communication channel with contractors and subcontractors
- Responsible for managing safe working behaviors of the team, demonstrating a high regard for personal and team health and safety performance, sustaining a zero overdue status of the investigation and actions
- Ensure all site incidents, investigation, workplace injuries and related documentation are managed and completed in line with existing standards and procedures
- Assist the Safety Superintendent / Manager to implement programs to improve contractor / subcontractor safety.
- Carrying out regular (scheduled and ad hoc) inspection and audit for sites and the offices to check that policies and procedures are being properly implemented by employees and contractors. Addressing and reporting upon area of non-conformance
- Train and coach, the BGML employees team on safety issues
- Assist management in identification and control of potential major risks exposures using information obtained from daily inspection and visits
- Investigating, monitoring and follow up on recommendations from investigation and ensure actions are completed and implemented.
- Ensure compliance to leading indicators and execution of required leadership interaction with department Ensure compliance with all relevant Tanzania Regulations in your area of responsibility. Any other tasks and responsibilities as directed by your Supervisor/Manager.

- Tertiary qualification in health and safety management or equivalent from recognized Tanzanian or International recognized institution
- Tanzania OSHA – NOSCH Training 1 and 2 Certification
- NEBOSH International General Certificate in Health and Safety
- Minimum 3 years working experience in the same or similar role
- Good communication (oral and written) skills
- Proven OHS risk analysis skills Result driven strong leadership / people management skills Computer literate skills
- Self-starting and able to work under minimum supervision
- Analysis of data, trends and providing recommendations
- Excellent knowledge of the OHS regulations
- Strong in hazard identification and risk analysis
- Root cause analysis and Incident investigation
- Driving license

Bulyanhulu is situated in north-west Tanzania, in the Kahama district of the Shinyanga region, approximately 55 kilometres south of Lake Victoria and 150 kilometres southwest of the city of Mwanza.

Bulyanhulu is a narrow-vein gold mine containing gold, silver and copper mineralisation in sulphides. The mineralisation of Bulyanhulu is associated with a number of steeply-dipping veins. Bulyanhulu commenced commercial production in 2001.
