CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Conduct repairs and preventative maintenance on instrumentation and process control systems for production and support services in order to achieve steady state operations. Test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect processing equipment and monitoring devices. Perform general maintenance on instrumentation and control equipment and ensure the proper functioning of all automated equipment. Configure and use a variety of instruments and devices to record and report data.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE
Accountabilities and authorities include:
- Inspection, testing, adjusting, and repair electric, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control automated operations. Inspect meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormalities.
- Test accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation detectors, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments to locate defective components in the system, using test equipment, such as pressure gauges, pulse and signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
- Calibrate readings on instruments according to standards.
- Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems.
- Ensure total adherence to all Safety, Occupational, Health and Environmental Policies of SMCL- SGM, as well as other policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Carry out instrumentation repair and preventative maintenance to maintain all equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve production goals and cost targets.
- Maintain and troubleshoot all process control systems, including PLC’s, Scada and control network.
- Ensure that instrumentation maintenance practices result in maximum systems and equipment availability and reliability. Meeting or exceeding planned availability is a Key Performance Indicator.
- Complete assigned work in a timely manner with minimum supervision and to an internationally acceptable standard.
- Keep workplace in a safe working condition and carry out instrumentation work in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.
- Provide accurate and timely feedback to Engineering Superintendent on conditions that may affect functionality of equipment.
- Carry out troubleshooting, fault finding and corrective maintenance in order to solve unplanned equipment unavailability events.
- Ensure Supervisors and all stakeholders are kept informed on equipment performance, and availability status.
- Ensure the maintenance management system is utilised as required by the Planning team.
- Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills, develop full potential, and assume increasing accountability.
- Under the direction of the Engineering Superintendent, provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to less experience personnel.
- Follow Safe Work Procedures and other maintenance procedures, attend regular safety meetings.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Resident Engineer.

Qualification:
- Must have completed an internationally recognized training in Instrumentation & Control or a Full Technician Certificate(FTC)in Electrical discipline/ Instrumentation Trade Certificate/ Electrical trade Certificate/ Equivalent Certificate..
- Maintenance shutdown and project management Training on recognized institution.
- Valid Tanzanian Driving License will be added advantage
- Experience and knowledge within the mining industry is preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years’experience in heavily instrumented plant/ Industrial environmental in Instrumentation and Control network field.
- Previous experience with control systems, Siemens PLC and Citect Scada will be highly regarded.
- Exposure to electrical systems will be an added advantage
- Good written and verbal English language skills are essential.
