Job Title: Head-Credit Review & Control
Department: Credit Review & Control
Location: Head Office

Job Purpose :
The primary responsibility includes Review of Credit Assessments, Control over the advances portfolio of the Bank by way of continuous monitoring with higher standards. The incumbent is the key personnel in building systems to manage a growing credit portfolio of DTB Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Review of Credit Risk parameters within each Credit Application, prior to submission to Management Credit Committee – identifying credit risk elements and ensuring such elements are minimized and controlled leading to overall high standard credit quality of the portfolio.
  • Assist with ensuring that Credit supports the Bank’s Credit Appetite and complies with the Bank internal policies and BOT requirements.
  • Continous improvement of quality of credit control framework –  Undertake close monitoring of the portfolio to look for early warning signs of portfolio deterioration and ensure actions are taken by business units accordingly.
  • Enhanced supervision on low rated, stressed accounts – including NPAs.
  • Ensuring credit portfolio segmentation and analysis to cover all key regulatory parameters, including IFRS 9 adherence.
  • Devise tools and systems where appropriate to facilitate credit risk rating / scoring.
  • Devise, implement, review and monitor various credit programs and providing training and coaching to continuously upgrade the competency of self and team members.
  • Engage with external stakeholders and international organizations with whom DTBT strategically partners with, to ensure covenants, reporting and other conditions are adhered to.
  • Review and develop the Bank’s credit approval policies and guidelines.
  • Prepare and present quarterly Board Paper reports and any other reports as per requirements.
  • To do any other duties as assigned by Head of Credit from time to time.
  • Ensure effective business continuity plan for the department.

Knowledge :
Qualifications :
  • University degree in accounting, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, economics or similar.
  • Master’s degree / Post Graduate Degree in Business, Commerce, Economics or related subjects is an added advantage.
  • Experience : At least Ten years of banking experience, of which two years should be in a managerial position with direct handling of Credit Review and Control functions of Corporates and SMEs Knowledge of IFRS9 will be an added advantage

  • Strong evaluation, communication and reporting skills
  • Good at managing large volumes of information and can add value through management reporting.
  • Builds relationships and network easily
  • Good numerical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, LOS and CBS

Effort and Involvement:
  • Requires a prolonged period of sitting at desk and work on computer and review of documents.
  • Requires interaction, coordination and supervision of subordinates with direct reporting relationship.

Working Conditions:
  • Perform indoor duties.
  • Meet customers regularly indoor.
